Music Ministry

Sing a new song to the Lord! (Psalm 98:1)

Adult Choir

Fall 2021 rehearsals resume on Wednesday, September 8!

Come, join the Adult Choir! We are actively seeking new choir members ages 18 and older. Music ministry in this parish is growing and we welcome you to share your gifts with the people gathered for worship. The adult choir helps to lead our sung prayer at 10:30 a.m. Mass on Sundays as well as feast days such as Christmas and Easter.  You do not need to read music to be in the choir but it is helpful. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7:00-8:30 p.m in the Holy Family Chapel. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 for more information. We hope to see you at our next rehearsal!

Children's Choir

Help us grow our children's Choir! Open to grades K-6. The children's choir sings one song at a Mass, typically the 10:30 am or 12:00 noon Sunday Masses, about 4 times per year. They also provide all of the music (with assistance from an adult song-leader) for the Christmas Eve 4:00 pm Mass. Rehearsal times TBA for 2021; likely on Tuesday evenings immediately following PSR class. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 to sign up!

Young Adult Choir

The young adult choir is open to students in grades 7-12 and undergraduate college students. Since this is new for our parish, we will likely sing about once a month from October-May for either the 5:00 pm Mass or the 12:00 noon Mass. Rehearsals TBA. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 to sign up!

Funeral Choir

Funeral choirs sing for the funerals for our parish, which are nearly always in the morning on weekdays and Saturdays. Rehearsals are scheduled as needed. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 to sign up!

Instruments

Instruments such as flute, clarinet, saxophone, oboe, violin, viola, cello, guitar, brass instruments, and percussion are welcome to play for our music ministry on a regular or intermittent basis. You should be at an intermediate to advanced level to play for a whole Mass. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 to sign up!

Cantors

Cantors, or song-leaders, proclaim the Psalm and the Alleluia verse and facilitate the singing of the gathered congregation for the hymns, songs, and acclamations. Cantors are fully initiated into the Catholic Church, having received the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. Cantors are expected to be able to read music and it is helpful if they are able to learn music on their own at home. Cantors can sing the Mass once a weekend, or less often as their schedule allows. It is helpful, but not required for cantors to also be in a choir. Rehearsals are right before Adult Choir rehearsals, the latter which begin at 7:00 pm. Contact Nathan Hetrick at [email protected] or 440-933-3777 to sign up!
